Join Us | Upward Synergy invites you and your ERG members to participate in our Virtual Town Hall meeting to share information and highlight ERG best practices on issues involving leadership development, recruitment, retention, visibility, outcomes measurement and research.


Whether you are forming new ERGs or looking toward effective succession planning, you need to get key best practices and processes in place. This session takes us through the journey of two Diversity & Inclusion executives who are leveraging best practices from multiple companies and their lived experiences to develop ERGs. Dr. Andrea Lewis, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at BAE Systems Inc. & Jessica Choi, Director, Diversity & Industry Relations at Aramark will share their thoughts on how to build foundations of effective ERGs.

About Jessica Choi | Director, Diversity & Industry Relations, Aramark

Jessica launched her career with ARAMARK 16 years ago and held various positions in operations, human resources, sales, and staff function. She serves as a board member of Penn State Hotel Restaurant Society and PA-NJ-DE Minority Supplier Development Council. She also serves as an Ambassador for Women's Foodservice Forum, US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Corporate Brain Trust Committee Co-Chair, and Women's Business Enterprise Council Certification and Awards Committee.

Jessica Choi is a Director of Diversity & Industry Relations supporting Global Diversity and Inclusion strategy through corporate partnerships with key external and industry organizations that aligns with business goals. 

Jessica started her career with ARAMARK in 1997 as a LEAD manager, entry level management training program. For the next five years, she worked in various food service operations with increasing responsibilities as a Food Service Director. 

In 2002, Jessica transitioned to human resources function where she was responsible for staffing over 500 hourly associates to multiple lines of businesses. In this role, Jessica developed high school internship program called ARAMARK Career Training (ACT). This program has grown today to provide opportunities to hundreds of students each summer with training in food and facility services. 

In 2004, Jessica started as the Senior Manager of College Relations in leading strategic workforce planning for entry level managers, employment branding, diversity initiatives, and facilitating and building relationships with university faculty and administrators. 

In 2006, Jessica joined sales function as a National Account Manager with ARAMARK Refreshment Services. In this role, Jessica managed large national account portfolios creating innovative coffee and vending services, oversee day to day operations, developed and lead strategic account management solutions, while maintaining relationships to achieve account retention and sales objectives. 

In 2010, Jessica transitioned to ARAMARK Strategic Assets as a Director of Supplier Diversity. In this role, Jessica supported ARAMARK's Global Food, Hospitality & Facilities interest by enhancing ability to gain and retain business, promote and capacity build with diverse suppliers, and create policies and protocols that promote operational efficiency. 

Jessica serves as a board member of the Penn State Hotel Restaurant Society and PA-NJ-DE Minority Supplier Development Council. She also serves as an Ambassador for Women's Foodservice Forum, US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Corporate Brain Trust Committee Co-Chair, and Women's Business Enterprise Council Certification and Awards Committee. 

She holds a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from University of Phoenix.

 


About Dr. Andrea Lewis | Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, BAE Systems, Inc. 

 

Andrea Lewis

Andrea is the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for BAE Systems, Inc., responsible for designing and executing a strategy to foster a diverse, inclusive, high-performing workplace. She leads culture transformation, workforce engagement, and leadership initiatives to create and retain a diverse workforce.

Andrea joined BAE Systems, Inc. in 2008 in the role of Director, Talent and Leadership Development within the Land and Armaments Sector, where she was responsible for all talent and leadership development as well as diversity efforts.

Andrea has been in the talent, leadership and organization development field her entire career, starting out at the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and holding progressively responsible positions in a variety of industries (including Freddie Mac, a mortgage and financial services company, and Digene, a biotechnology company dedicated to women's health), as well as in small and large consulting firms. She has authored several articles and presented at conferences on the topics of women and leadership, career development and talent management. 

Andrea earned a BA from Brandeis University and a Master's and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from George Washington University.

Upward Synergy hosts monthly virtual meetings to share information and highlight best practices from ERGs on issues involving leadership development, recruitment, retention, visibility, outcomes measurement and research.

  • Networking and collaborating with ERG champions and diversity advocates on topics pertaining to the workplace
